How NutriMama works, and what it is not
Last reviewed: 21 August 2026
NutriMama is a nutrition and wellness companion for women in India. It is not a medical device, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for a doctor. It is built to help you eat, track and understand your body between appointments — and to tell you clearly when something needs a clinician instead of an app.
Where the guidance comes from
Nutrition targets and the condition library are written against published guidance rather than generated from scratch:
Every condition page is public and unpaywalled, so you can read the guidance and check it against these sources yourself. Specific drug dosages are deliberately withheld — that is a prescribing decision, and it belongs with your doctor.
What the AI does — and does not — do
- It can be wrong. Answers are generated by a language model. Treat them as a well-read starting point for a conversation with your doctor, not as a verdict.
- It does not diagnose. If you upload a photo or a lab report, the app describes what it can see and flags values outside the usual range. It does not name a disease or tell you what to take for it.
- It works from what you tell it. Guidance is shaped by the profile and history you enter. Incomplete or inaccurate entries produce guidance to match.
- The AI chat is for adults. Under-18 accounts get tracking and nutrition content, not open-ended chat.
Safety design
Messages are screened in both Hindi and English for emergency language — heavy bleeding, chest pain, thoughts of self-harm and similar. When one is detected the app stops giving nutrition advice and routes you to real help: 102 (ambulance), 112 (emergency), and iCall for mental-health support.
Notifications are written so that nothing sensitive appears on a lock screen. On a shared phone, a NutriMama alert will never reveal your cycle, fertility window, pregnancy or lab results.
Your data
- Encrypted in transit and at rest; phone numbers additionally encrypted at the field level.
- Never sold, and never shared with advertisers.
- Processed under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Payments are handled by our payment provider — we never see or store full card or UPI credentials.
- Deletable by you, at any time, from Settings — including the health history, not just the login.
- The third parties that process data on our behalf are named individually in the Privacy Policy.
Full detail lives in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
What we have not finished yet
We would rather you read this from us than discover it later.
- Independent clinical review is still in progress. The condition library is written from the guidance cited above, but it has not yet completed sign-off by an external clinical reviewer. Until it does, no page on this site claims to be doctor-reviewed.
- We are early. NutriMama is a young product with a small user base. That means quick fixes and direct access to the people building it — and it also means less of the track record a large service would have.
- Hindi coverage is still expanding. The app shell, onboarding and much of the content are bilingual; some sections are still English-only and are being translated.
