Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a liver condition in later pregnancy causing intense itching — classically on the palms and soles, worse at night, with NO rash. It happens because bile acids build up in the blood. It needs medical attention because high bile acids can raise the risk of complications for the baby. It usually resolves after delivery.
